[UPDATED] Support coordination for everyone in 2021… no more!

SUPPORT COORDINATION line item codes in your NDIS plan CORE funds. [NOW GONE AGAIN]

Its really easy.... complete our contact form and we'll get in touch quickly.

[UPDATED 1 MARCH 2021]  Per our previous advice on 26 February at 3PM providers and participants were advised that all CORE codes were intended to be discontinued from Sunday 28 February - effectively providing one business day's notice for providers and participants to make other arrangements.  IN a HUGE reversal the government then turned around on Monday, 1 March 2021, and advised that the CORE support coordination codes would continue until 31 March 2021 after which they would be retired.  It kinda beggars belief that this very unprofessional crew could think that people could change their 'allowed' arrangements with only one day notice.  Surely this could have been considered before reversals and changes were then hastily made.... after the damage was done?!  Maybe not... some are a few quid short for a six pack it seems.  Scottsfrommakreting and co have a lot to answer for in the NDIS space.  None of it good!

READ the initial advice SchemeWise provided based on Ministerial Press Release below.... now all defunct.

In a media release late last year the NDIS Minister  finally got something right and stated that support coordination codes added under CORE-Daily Activities of Living (introduced to help with the COVID-19 period) would remain permanently.

Yep that's right.... PERMANENTLY!

This is a very important change... mostly like driven by the flexibility people obtained around the COVID period but also likely driven by findings as the Disability Royal Commission. Its also likely an acknowledgement that the NDIS has got some damned complex... that most participants and their representatives are now struggling to keep pace with the change and administrative red tape the NDIS seems to good at constantly delivering.

SO.... in a few words... support coordination is available to ALL NDIS PARTICIPANTS.  Hooray!!

Similar to how the NDIA introduced core codes for new health services back in October 2019, it has now added new codes for people to get support coordination assistance from their CORE funds (as long as you have this support under Activities of Living) in your plan.  This means ANYONE can obtain support coordination assistance ANYTIME or for ANYTHING in particular they may need help with.  And it doesn't matter if your plan is NDIA-managed, plan-managed or self-managed.  The only requirement is that you have 'CORE - Assistance with Daily Life' funding.

Why not reach out and talk to SchemeWise today.  We offer a no obligation meeting so you can see if we are the right fit for you.

Three support coordination items have been introduced to the support catalogue under Core Supports > Assistance with Daily Life, effective from 1 December 2020:

  • ⇒ 01_790_0106_8_3 - Level 1: Support Connection
  • ⇒ 01_791_0106_8_3 - Level 2: Coordination Of Supports
  • ⇒ 01_793_0106_8_3 - Level 3: Specialist Support Coordination

The new line items duplicate items already claimable under Capacity Building Supports.  However, you no longer need to have specifically been provided Support Coordination to NOW USE this service type as most NDIS participants generally have core funding in their plans.  If you don't think you will use all of these CORE funds... why not put them to good use?

It also means... if you were only given a small support coordination budget in your plan (LAC's are particularly renowned for this as giving a smaller amount means they get paid more by the government) then you can NOW use your core funds to get EXTRA HELP if it runs out!  This is part of YOUR RIGHT to choice and control... and using our funds flexibly to address your needs.

The new item numbers allow participants to use their funds more flexibly to access these supports from either their Core or Capacity Building budgets.
